“No caregiver alone, no senior forgotten.”
01About the client
KampungKin is a community care network built around one idea: “No caregiver alone, no senior forgotten.” It connects seniors, family caregivers and neighbours through a two-way “Care Loop”, community events, and bookable Care Gifts. It launched at The Interlace in Singapore and works with partners such as CWA and Aidha. It plans to expand to more estates.
02The challenge
KampungKin began as a custom-built prototype (React, Express and Firebase). It proved the concept, but running a real community needed more than a prototype could offer:
A single platform to run events, registrations and paid memberships.
Simple sign-up journeys for very different people: caregivers, seniors, neighbours and volunteers (“Kampung Allies”).
A model for growing estate by estate, with a free “Kampung Pledge” for estates not yet live.
Sensitive personal and care information handled to PDPA standards.
A platform the small team could manage themselves, without developer help for every change.
03Our approach
As functional consultants, we started with how the community actually runs, not with the code. We mapped each real-world journey:
- Joining
- Registering for an event
- Becoming a paid member
- Volunteering
- Pledging for a new estate
Then we looked for the best fit in standard Odoo.
Standard Odoo first, custom only where needed
Events and registrations run on Odoo’s native Events app, so event creation, ticketing and attendance work the way the team expects. Member and non-member pricing sits on top of it.
Individual and Family memberships use Odoo Subscriptions, so recurring billing and renewals follow standard Odoo flows.
Custom behaviour was added by extending Odoo’s standard models rather than building parallel ones. The platform stays upgrade-friendly and easy to maintain.
Purpose-built journeys on the Odoo website
A guided multi-step sign-up for people seeking support, and a separate volunteer sign-up for Kampung Allies.
A Kampung Pledge flow so residents of future estates can register interest.
A bilingual-ready interface with a simple language switch.
A homepage built around the Care Loop, Care Events and Care Gifts, so visitors understand the model quickly.
Security and privacy by design
Authentication and access rights use Odoo’s native user and group controls. Sensitive care information is visible only to the coordinators involved. The platform collects no NRIC/FIN data.
04The result
One platform for community, events, memberships and volunteers, replacing a prototype that couldn’t scale.
Live at The Interlace, with event registration and membership available online.
A repeatable model. The pledge-to-launch approach lets KampungKin open new estates without rebuilding anything.
A team in control. Staff manage events, content and members from Odoo.
05Why it matters
KampungKin shows that Odoo goes well beyond ERP. With the right functional design, it can power a social enterprise whose mission is human connection.
For Ninaad Global, it is a clear example of our approach: understand the real need first, fit it to standard Odoo, and customise only where it adds value.
